The ongoing covid-19 situation, and the consequent suspension of all cricket by Cricket Scotland until 1st June at least, will obviously curtail the 2020 cricket season, and it may well be the case that we have no cricket at all. The trustees will review the position as and when updated advice is received from Cricket Scotland, but to give clubs clarity, we initially propose to cut down to a 9 week season, starting on 4th July. Existing published league fixtures from this date will be retained, subject to pitches remaining available and fit for play. The trustees will liaise with all pitch providers, and fixtures will be adjusted as and if necessary.
In the event that cricket becomes viable in June, we would if possible, look to play the initial rounds of our cups on a knockout basis on Saturdays prior to the commencement of league fixtures.
Our intention would be to concentrate on our core fixtures, and whilst we will keep the position under review, the Turriff Cup and 7’s may not take place in 2020.
This is all subject to our being able to reinstate a proportion of our ball order.Clubs may wish not to renew their public liability insurance until we know cricket will be played.
No subscription fee notes will be issued to clubs until we have a definite start to cricket, and these will be adjusted to reflect the reduced season.
Given the ongoing impact on the hospitality sector, and doubts as to whether we will have a cricket season or not, the Grades Dinner has been suspended.
